Summer is gone, Salmon season has come and gone with a blink of an eye. Now were into the fall hunting seasons and I am out filming everything possibly. Chrome Seekers were out chasing King from July to September. Needless to say, we had a great season and I can't wait to share the footage with everyone. Calvin and I are both concentrating on whitetail right now but plan on getting back to the steelhead scene as quick as possible. Friend us on Facebook to find out how the DVD and the fishing is coming along: Chrome Seekers Trapping season started on the 15th of October. Last month I switched over to Final Cut Express. Easier said then done but I am learning more and more about it everyday. Last week I finished Trent Masterson Truckload Coon Bait. It came out pretty solid. I also finished up the Collegiate Steelhead Tournament video. I sent that out to the Co-founder and Western Michigan University President. As soon as they approve, it will be posted here for all to see. Have a great weekend! Chrome Seekers head North with Friends 04/19/2011
The last few weekends the Chrome Seekers have headed north in search of Steel. A few friends have joined us as well. A lot of steelhead were hooked and a few even made it on camera. The weather once again played a role in this past weekend to the point that it was almost unbearable. It's funny, ever since Calvin and I decided to put this DVD together we have fished in the nastiest of weather. If you know anything about cameras, you would would know that rain and bad snow are bad and force us to put the cameras back in the trucks. We still made the best out of it. Yesterday and today, Trent and I went out Beaver trapping. Today was the last day of the season, We gathered some sweet footage. 8 out of 15 traps had Beaver in it. We also caught a trapper thief in action and you will have to wait to see what happens by buying the DVD. I have some more footage I want to gather to complete this project. I am really looking forward to putting together this DVD. Below are some of the pictures I took. Tough Weekend to Film 03/22/2011
Went up north to fish and film. At the last minute I was signed up for a steelhead tournament by a friend. In the morning I was all set to go. I had planned to let Calvin do most of the filming since I was in the tourney. The only problem is, we started to rush at the end while getting ready and my ride took my camera. So no filming the first part. When I was picked up to head to another spot we flat out forgot the camera. So no filming at all the first day. We ended up finishing 5th out of 55 teams. Sunday we thought about sleeping in. However, I didn't drag my boat across the state for no reason. I had never had it in the river so I wanted to test it out. The 6th street launch was next to impossible to launch. One we got out there I wanted to test my anchor system. At first we couldn't get the anchor back in the boat because the rope was to thin. Once we figured out what to do and put the boat where I wanted I noticed the boat was leaking more water then it should; go figure. We ended up pulling the boat out which was a task. We then decided to head towards another river since we didn't fish much. We didn't get very far and I blew a tire. Usually a simple job turned into a 6 hour job because the studs were stripped. I was glad to arrive home when we did. Needless to say, the record button was never touched. I would have loved to record everything that happened but everything turned out to be a two man job this wkd. Seems like we need another person on our team just to film when good stuff is happening. Here are some pics from the wkd: Photos by Calvin Doctor To Much Snow is Not Good 03/01/2011
At the last minute Calvin and I decided to hit the local river. It was snowing pretty bad and I thought it would make for some great footage and so it did. The only problem was, it was coming down so hard that we had to put the cameras away because the snow was wet. Electronics and now does not go togather. Once we put the camera down, the fishing picked up. I went 1 for 2 and Calvin caught a sucker. Go figure, right? We did get some sweet shots with the Nikon. Fished a semi popular river on sunday. Didn't get down there till 11 AM. At first I was not going to fish but when I peak into a hole I seen 20+ steel and a bunch of suckers. I snuck to the other side and casted everything at them. Didn't have a single bobber down. So I moved on. To my surprise there were still some fresh fish in the river. I never hooked any but I am sure the super low, clear water didn't help at all. One thing is for sure, the suckers and smolts have over run the river. I have never seen so many smolts in this river. I went back to that spot and got right over the fish and drop my float in front of them. The water was so slow the fish would move out of the way when it was coming at them. So I gave up. The nice thing was I never seen another fisherman the whole time I was there which was kind of surprising. I may go out for one last harrah this weekend. Or I may fish brookies in a favorite little stream of mine. We'll see... | CategoriesAll ArchivesJanuary 2012 |
